The birth of CrackpotOnce upon a time in 2007, there was a TCG named FROOTS. FROOTS was an Asian entertainment TCG owned by Satsuki and Kou. After a hiatus, FROOTS failed to get back on its feet again and pretty much died. In May 2008, we, Sam (ex-FROOTS member) and Kou (ex-FROOTS co-founder), decided we wanted to make a new Asian entertainment TCG to fill the emptiness left behind by FROOTS's death. Thus, the idea of Crackpot was born. Originally, FROOTS's other co-founder, Satsuki, was supposed to help with Crackpot. Instead, she dropped out of the project and opened a TCG with a similar topic, Amuse.
Why is it called "Crackpot"?As soon as we decided we were going to open a new TCG, we tried to figure out a name. Kou and Sam exchanged some dumb names while Satsuki looked through Plastic Tree songs for possible names. Suddenly, Satsuki suggested the dumbest name of all: Crackpot! It started as a joke, but we thought it was cool and (at the time, unofficially) adopted it.
The card designCrackpot's card design is based on the second card design from FROOTS. We liked the idea of a "picture bar" connecting all of the cards in a deck together, but we couldn't figure out a way to change the card design without making it look just like FROOTS's. Then, Sam suggested that we change the picture bar from horizontal to vertical, and we kept the design.
